Catterick Garrison WAGs Choir
This project draws together wives and children from 4 Mechanized Brigade, and indeed some from the wider Garrison, into a community based project aimed at creating stronger ties within the Brigade and providing another level of support to the families of deployed servicemen.
The project was the brainchild of Nicky Clarke, whose husband is currently serving in Afghanistan with the Black Rats.
Nicky wanted to create a regular event that would not only be fun to attend, but that would also provide an additional support network to those who have loved ones away. Nicky plans to organise a number of events where the choir will showcase their achievements. These will culminate in a gala performance when the Brigade returns to Catterick.

A message from Nicky Clarke...
"We are developing the Catterick Garrison WAGs Choir, particularly for wives and children whose soldier spouses have deployed on Op HERRICK with 4 Brigade, but it is open to all wives, girlfriends and children within the Garrison. We plan to meet weekly at the Army Welfare Service buildings (Evergreen Room) from 22nd April. We would like to put on a summer performance, possibly to be broadcast on BFBS out to Afghanistan, and then a final performance for our returning soldiers towards the end of the year.
The choir will provide an opportunity for all families within the Garrison to meet on a weekly basis. Wives and/or children will be able to join the choir and we plan to provide crèche/childminding facilities for those who need it. Being part of a choir has a number of intangible benefits. Singing is a very therapeutic activity, providing stress relief and a sense of fulfilment. Being part of a choir gives individuals the opportunity to be more closely knit within the Garrison
community and will hopefully provide them with a sense of
support during this difficult year."
The WAGs Choir will meet every Thursday between 6pm and 7.30pm at the Evergreen Room behind the Army Welfare Service Buildings. Everyone from the age of 7 years and upwards is welcome to attend. There are child minding services provided, and refreshments will be available. The first meeting of the Choir will take place on Thursday, 22 April 2010.
