The Black Rat Fund and Rideout Organisers have had a wonderful offer of help come in from Bob at Yorkshire Trikers.
Bob has offered to help us put together a Free Commemorative Magazine all about the Black Rat Rideout. Here's why in his own words...
"Ever since I was a small child putting together a magazine was something I wanted to do. Then, when I started up www.yorkshiretrikers.co.uk 4 years ago, it gave me the perfect opportunity to start the Yorkshire Trikers magazines.
Earlier this year when I heard about the Wootton Bassett Mother's day ride I was gutted that I couldn’t make the days ride, so that got me thinking... just how could I do my bit for the organizers from all the way up here in Yorkshire?
I heard about the busy people running about behind the scenes, and how they were faceless nameless people who never get the thanks they rightly deserve, so I set about offering my services to put together The FREE Wootton Bassett magazine, so that all involved could tell their stories of the day, about what it took organizing the ride, and about everyone's experiences.
I also hoped the magazine would be read by those great men and women who are serving our country under such horrendous circumstances.
I contacted the organizers who put out a plea via Facebook to all who rode that Mother's Day to send in their stories for inclusion in the mag. As it turned out the only people who sent their articles in were the bikers themselves - the people behind the scenes were far too humble to take any publicity for the marvellous job they had done.
Once the magazine was finished I published it online and in no time at all it was being downloaded by all, and hopefully enjoyed.
I hope that the Black Rat Rideout Commemorative Magazine fires people up to send in their stories and pictures again. And to those people of the press that are brainwashed into thinking that bikers are just like they are portrayed in the films….You are so wrong! They are by far the nicest, kindest, warm, loving, honest and reliable people I have ever encountered in my 40 years of life. Just read the stories of those involved in Wootton Bassett and find out!
So let’s hope this magazine can do its good work again for The Black Rat Fund which is an equally deserving cause.
We want to fill this Black Rat Mag with all kinds of stories and pictures written and taken by those who take part on the day. All you need to do is send your article in an email with some photo’s attached and we'll put them in. However, please do make sure you have full rights to the article and pictures that you send in - we don't want to get into trouble over any copyright issues!
Yours Bob
- a hairy arsed biker with a heart like the rest of the biking community!"
