Applying for Assistance from the Black Rat Fund

The Black Rat Fund welcomes applications for
welfare and compassionate grants from individuals, as well as applications for funding of events, activities, facilities, and projects that will benefit the soldiers and families of 4th Mechanized Brigade.
How do we support you?
We provide support in a variety of ways...
- We can give welfare and compassionate grants to individuals or families from 4th Mechanized Brigade that will assist you if you or a member of your immediate family are in need or distress.
- We can give grants to specific projects, events or activities which benefit members and families from 4th Mechanized Brigade.
- We can give grants to assist with introducing or improving facilities which will be used by members and families from 4th Mechanized Brigade. Please note, however, that we will not fund facilities which should rightly be provided by, or funded from, the public purse.
- We can put you in touch with other welfare agencies if you need specialist support or advice.
In order to apply you need to complete an Application Form. There is one form for individual applications and a separate form for public projects.

We ask all public project applicants who receive grants to use this banner
on their publicity and promotional materials so that the work of
the Black Rat Fund is recognised and promoted.
Who is eligible for our support?
For personal welfare and compassionate grants we will accept applications from:
- Serving personnel who are currently part of 4th Mechanized Brigade.
- Immediate family of serving personnel from 4th Mechanized Brigade. We consider immediate family to include husbands, wives, sons and daughters.
For public projects, events and activities applications should be made by either:
- The organiser(s) of the event, so long as they are either a serving member of 4th Mechanized Brigade, or a dependent of a serving member.
- Your Commanding Officer, so long as your Unit or Regiment is part of 4th Mechanized Brigade.
- Your Unit Welfare Officer, so long as your Unit or Regiment is part of 4th Mechanized Brigade.
